It redefined who matters most.

Adult desires became the priority, and children’s rights were left behind. Kids deserve better. They deserve a culture and laws that put them first.

It’s time to put them first.

Eleven years ago, five Supreme Court justices decided that male and female were optional in marriage. The result was predictable: mothers and fathers became optional in family law.  

But from a child’s perspective, mothers and fathers are never optional.  

When children lose the mother or father to whom they have a natural right, they face increased risks of identity struggles, mother- or father-hunger, abuse and neglect, and a host of emotional, developmental, and relational challenges.

That is why a coalition of more than 100 organizations and leaders strong has come together to say: no more.  

Children’s needs are greater than adult desires. Greater than adult identities. Greater than adult affirmation.  

Marriage exists because children need their mother and father. We are working to restore a child-centered vision of marriage and family, where the rights and well-being of children come first.

When marriage was redefined in 2015, parenthood was too. Once husbands and wives became optional, mothers and fathers became replaceable. But for a child, their mother and father are never optional, they are essential. Children need both a mother and a father to provide stability, guidance, and the unique love only a man and woman can give. No adult desire or ideology can change that.
